Auckland Jazz Orchestra plays Wayne Senior (w special guest Caitlin Smith)

Auckland Jazz Orchestra is a full 17-piece contemporary jazz big band, with a mission to perform music and arrangements from New Zealand musicians and composers. For one special night, the Auckland Jazz Orchestra reunites with renowned arranger Wayne Smith, and special guest vocalist Caitlin Smith.

Internationally recognised, arranger, composer and educator, Wayne Senior has a storied career. From early years as musical director for Howard Morrison & Television New Zealand, and jazz arranger played by the likes of Bobby Shew, he has taught across Australia & NZ. As a guest musical director for AJO, he brings some favourite arrangements from his book, and some brand new compositions.

Also joining the band is a long-time collaborator, Caitlin Smith, who should need almost no introduction. Singer, poet, and vocal-coach, her range is supreme, and she injects meaning into every syllable she sings. With AJO she will be performing arrangements from their latest album, East of The Sun - fresh takes on some choice standards.
